They did what? The biggest clashes at Glastonbury this year

Charli XCX after winning artist of the year (Lucy North/PA) - (PA Wire)

Glastonbury is almost here, but as 200,000 people descend on Worthy Farm this summer, the eternal question remains: which gigs to see, and which to skip?

Now the set times have been released, fans can start planning out their week in more detail. Which, of course, includes seeing which of their favourite artists’ sets clash.

As ever, nobody can be satisfied, but still – some of the clashes are pretty egregious. Here’s our pick of the worst.

Biffy Clyro vs. Gracie Abrams

Gracie Abrams’ second album The Secret of Us topped the UK Albums Chart this week (Official Charts Company/PA) (Official Charts Company/PA)

When: Friday June 27

Where: The Pyramid Stage and the Other Stage

Kicking things off are Taylor Swift’s successor and nepo-artist Gracie Abrams (who’s on at 8.30pm), against none other than ageing rockers Biffy Clyro (on at 7.45pm). To be honest, who you see here likely depends on age and/ or taste, but they’re still two big names – and hey, it’s possible to catch half of Biffy then leg it for the start of Gracie.

The 1975 vs. Loyle Carner vs. Maribou State

(Lesley Martin/PA) (PA Wire)

When: Friday

Where: The Pyramid Stage, the Other Stage, West Holts

A three-way clash! Friday night headliners The 1975 are on at 10pm, while Loyle Carner and Maribou State both kick things off at 10.15pm. And that’s before we mention that Four Tet will be playing Woodsies from 10.30pm. Thorny indeed.

Lola Young vs. English Teacher

Lola Young (Isabel Infantes/PA) (PA Wire)

When: Friday

Where: Woodies, The Park

Up and comer Lola Young (whose hit single Messy was on all the radios at the start of this year) will be facing off against Mercury Prize winners English Teacher during the day. The sets both start at 4.30pm, so there’s complete overlap: meaning you will have to choose who to see.

Charli xcx vs. Doechii (vs. Neil Young)

When: Saturday June 28

Where: The Pyramid Stage, the Other Stage, West Holts

A work of demented genius from the Glasto planning team: one that was purposely made to split the crowds. Saturday headliner Neil Young will be facing off against Brat of the moment (and last year’s moment) Charli xcx, while at the same time rising rap superstar Doechii takes to West Holts. It’ll split the crowd neatly – just as the planning team intended.

Kneecap vs. Pa Salieu

(left to right) Members of Kneecap, Liam Og O Hannaidh (Mo Chara), JJ O Dochartaigh (DJ Provai), and Naoise O Caireallain (Moglai Bap) (Brian Lawless/PA) (PA Wire)

When: Saturday

Where: West Holts, The Park

Rabble rouser rap trio Kneecap are still set to play their Glastonbury set so far (despite a terror charge being levelled at one of its members) but they will be playing at the same time as rapper and singer Pa Salieu.

Jade vs. Lucy Dacus

Former Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall is among those due to perform at the Brockwell Live events (Lucy North/PA) (PA Wire)

When: Saturday

Where: Woodsies, The Park

Divide the lesbians! Queer icon Jade (formerly of Little Mix) is taking to Woodsies at 3.15pm, the same time as artist Lucy Dacus, who most recently made headlines as a member of beloved (and now retired) trio Boygenius.

Noah Kahan vs. Wolf Alice

(Getty Images)

When: Sunday June 29

Where: The Pyramid Stage, the Other Stage

Get ready for the battle of the indie rockers. Noah Kahan will debuting his brand of folk-pop at 7.30pm, with Wolf Alice following fifteen minutes later. With their new album on the horizon, expect some unreleased tracks from these guys…

Olivia Rodrigo vs. The Prodigy vs. Overmono

(AP)

When: Sunday

Where: The Pyramid Stage, the Other Stage, West Holts

Seeing things out with a clash! Olivia Rodrigo will be closing the festival on the big stage from 9.30pm on Sunday, but the Prodigy kick off their Other Stage set just 15 minutes later. Plus, for the electronic-heads, Overmono will be playing West Holts from 10pm. Choose your tribe.
