'They brought a little bit of Anfield here too' - Jose Mourinho praises Liverpool's fans in Madrid

Jose Mourinho praised Liverpool's supporters following their side's Champions League final win over Spurs.

Goals from Mo Salah and Divok Origi handed Jurgen Klopp's men a 2-0 at Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, handing the Reds their sixth European Cup in the process.

The Reds secured their place in a second successive Champions League final after staging a dramatic semi-final victory over Barcelona at Anfield.

The game will go down as one of the greatest in the club's history, and Mourinho, who had previously had a prickly relationship with Reds fans, was quick to praise their impact they have on Jurgen Klopp's side in the immediate aftermath to the game in the Spanish capital.

"Liverpool, of course, they deserve compliments," Mourinho said on beINSPORTS .

"I have to say, and I'm sure you agree with me (looking at Arsene Wenger), Anfield played a big part in this.

"Today was not Anfield but was Anfield during the knockout competition. They brought a little bit of Anfield here too.

"It's a special place to play football, and Liverpool teams they have this extra, extra from their fans."
