'They are seriously average and we should win': What Leicester fans are saying about Newcastle

Newcastle travel to seventh place Leicester City on Friday night, and will be looking to get that all important win that Rafa Benitez believes will secure their Premier League safety.

But it won’t be an easy task for the Magpies as Leicester have been in How Brendan Rodgers wanted the Newcastle job - and the hectic off season that faces United, winning four of their last five league games and scoring an impressive 11 goals.

This has made Rodgers an immediate hit in the East Midlands, with Leicester’s rejuvenated supporters voicing their support both in The King Power and on social media.

Ahead of Friday’s game against Benitez’s side - who, contrary to Leicester, are without a win in three - Foxes fans seem confident that their team can come out on top.

Here’s what the Leicester faithful have been saying about their opposition.

The Foxes Talk Forum was full of optimism, with fans writing:

  • “2-0 routine win. Maguire and Evans back in. 5 straight wins!
  • “Barnes to score a screamer! 3-1 win”
  • “Let’s be honest they are seriously average and we should win”
  • “They’ll come to frustrate but the movement of Maddison, Tielemans and Barnes will be too much for them for 90 minutes.
  • “Vardy could reach 20 PL goals again this season which is outrageous given he was on 7 in February.
  • “3-0 Vardy hat trick”

However, other fans seem concerned about Newcastle’s attacking threat and defensive mindset, suggesting Rodgers won’t get it all his own way at The King Power.

  • “Try and pick two CBs for this! The rest of the team picks itself”
  • “Actually think we might need Morgan to combat Rondon?”

  • “Watford aside, I think this will be the toughest test under Brendan so far.”
  • “Geordies always make a noise and still need points, so should be a good atmosphere”
  • “Good tactical test for BR, as Rafa is no mug. Tough game”
  • “I’m intrigued to see how well we will break down a side that sticks 11 men behind the ball”
