It’s no secret that the current Trump administration does not like immigrants. Since assuming office for a second term this year, Donald Trump, with the help of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has been conducting raids throughout the United States in an effort to rid the country of what he calls as “illegal aliens”, also known as undocumented immigrants.
If you are active on social media, especially X (formerly Twitter), you will come across at least one post every day that features an individual getting forcefully questioned by ICE officials or worse, getting zip-tied and forced into the back of a van with fifty other people. Additionally, every third day, you would come across news of someone getting seriously injured during these raids. These attacks on the immigrant population by Trump and his Republican allies are intentional and targeted, aimed at creating an atmosphere of fear. Unfortunately, they are succeeding.
Recently, reports have shown that even those who are directly or indirectly supportive of the current government, or who simply tolerate it, are not safe from President Donald Trump’s actions. Tacos El Fluffy in Pensacola, Florida, is being forced to temporarily close after the immigrant owner’s work visa was not renewed, and she was asked to self-deport. For those unaware, this restaurant had provided free meals to several military personnel during the government shutdown.
One person highlighted the hypocrisy of the circumstances and said on X:
“THIS IS SHAMEFUL! WE DON’T TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THIS IN AMERICA. SHE IS HERE LEGALLY. HER SON SERVES IN OUR MILITARY. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS ADMINISTRATION? THEY ARE DEHUMANIZING PEOPLE. IS THAT THE PLAN TO INTIMIDATE ALL OF US AND JUSTIFY MORE control?”
Another person made a similar observation and commented:
“Deporting a woman who fed America’s soldiers during Trump’s shutdown isn’t law enforcement… it’s a moral execution of justice itself. When bureaucracy becomes a whip and the nation a blind judge… it fails humanity long before it fails the law.”
Several others shared similar opinions in their criticism of Trump. As days go by, Donald Trump’s behaviour resembles more and more of a King, a title he refuses to associate himself with.
