'They are a hard team to play against' - Beaten Rotherham United boss full of praise for Bristol Rovers

Beaten Rotherham United manager Paul Warne's comments will be music to Graham Coughlan's ears.

The Gas boss has created an ethos at the club were fighting to the death for the cause is the minimum requirement he expects from his side, and it is getting results.

Saturday's 1-0 victory over relegated Championship side Rotherham, thanks to another impressive goal from star striker Jonson Clarke-Harris, was the Pirates' seventh game unbeaten in all competitions and perhaps one of their best team performances of the season.

Speaking after the final whistle at the Memorial Stadium, where Rovers have only lost to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in the second round of the Carabao Cup this season, Warne said: “I think we just got outmuscled really, which I hate to say."

“We have no divine right to come here and win the game. They have not lost a home game all season.

"They are a hard team to play against.

"They frustrated us really well and defended well on all the set-pieces. We did not look menacing on any set-pieces and they deservedly won the game.”

“When we did get the ball down and played in the first-half we created chances

“We put loads of balls across the six-yard box but we didn’t get in on any of them.

“They had chances but the chance they did score from was inexcusable. We got frustrated but there is still 40 minutes left in the game. We still should have had control and passed it but we didn’t and that is the most disappointing thing for me.”
