'They ain't ready' - Chelsea fans excited as Callum Hudson-Odoi provides injury update

Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the comeback trail from injury.

The Chelsea attacker had to sit out the final games of the 2018/19 season due to a ruptured achilles tendon which he suffered in the Premier League match against Burnley.

The 18-year-old underwent surgery and has been undergoing rehabilitation over the summer in a bid to be fit in time for the start of the new season.

There is good news for Chelsea fans, as the England man is now back training outside working on his fitness, and although he is unlikely to be available for the opening Premier League game on Sunday, the image of the player training is sure to put a smile on Blues' fans' faces.

"He's working hard on his fitness and is back out on the pitch, so from my point of view right now that's the really good news and, of course, as a club we'd like that to be longer term," said Chelsea boss Frank Lampard on the player.

The Blues and Hudson-Odoi have also been in negotiations over a new contract, with the teenager available on a free transfer next summer should a deal not be reached.

It has however been reported that a deal is close to being signed, although Lampard didn't have an update on negotiations.

“No, on Callum there's not. The clubs are talking. We want him to stay, I want him to stay. We hope Callum stays, simple as that," he said.

Following his return to training, the player has taken to social media to show his delight.

But the player wasn't the only one happy with the news, as fans were quick to reply to also show their excitement.

With the new Premier League season now underway, Hudson-Odoi will be hoping to be back in contention for the match day squad as soon as possible.
