These West Ham fans are saying the same thing about Maxi Gomez after his misses vs Chelsea

It feels like West Ham are forever being linked with new forwards.

It has been a long time since an attacker came to east London and really made the place in the starting XI their own, with an almost revolving door of attackers.

One such man who was linked with the Hammers in the summer was Valencia forward Maxi Gomez.

The Uruguayan striker was rumoured to be making a move to the London Stadium in the transfer window that was worth anywhere up to £40million.

However, that move never came to fruition - with Sebastien Haller instead becoming the club's record signing after arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt.

And Hammers fans tuning into watch Chelsea's early kick-off against the Spanish side in the Champions League may just have been breathing a sigh of relief.

The forward missed two big chances in the first half of the game in the Mestalla, including a gilt-edged opportunity when the ball was played across the face of goal, with the Uruguayan missing the ball completely.

Chelsea keeper Kepa then made a decent stop shortly after to prevent the striker from scoring at point-blank range.

Here's what West Ham fans have been saying about the forward.
