These were the queues to get to the top of Snowdon over Easter weekend

It's been a blistering Easter bank holiday weekend - which means everybody and their dogs have headed to the great outdoors.

Yesterday, so many people climbed Pen Y Fan that there was a huge queue at the summit.

But, it wasn't just mountains in the Brecon Beacons that saw hundreds of hikers lacing up their walking boots to climb to the top.

A number of pictures posted to social media also show mammoth queues at the summit of Snowdon.

One image, posted by Peri Vaughan Jones, shows hordes of people waiting patiently to get a selfie with the orientation plaque on top of Wales' highest peak.

Ms Jones posted the picture along with the caption: "Queue up to the summit of Snowdon. Bank holiday + sunshine ="

A number of other people have posted similar pictures, including Justin Farrelly, who posted these images to twitter:

Among the people climbing Snowdon over Easter weekend were a number of charity fundraisers and inspirational people, including this group who carried their wheelchair bound friend to the summit:

The video was posted by Jaimie Nevitt, who wrote: "Walked up Snowdon today which I thought is an achievement, then I saw these guys carry someone up in a wheel chair."

Back in the Brecon Beacons, parking issues at the base of Pen y Fan continue to cause chaos, as over two miles of cars were pictured mounted on grass verges on Saturday.

The cars, which normally just occupy the Storey Arms car parks, were backed up beyond the traditional car parks south beyond the Beacons Reservoir.

According to South Wales Police the car parks were full by 10am this morning.

In a statement a police spokeswoman said: "The car park at Pont At Daf is already full with numerous cars parking on verges.

"If you are planning a visit to Pen y Fan today please use an alternate parking facility. Also please abide by the 30mph limit! It’s there for the safety of all!"
