These two teams could be interested in Patriots’ first-round draft pick

Two teams in particular could be interested in the New England Patriots’ No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL draft. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler was able to give some insight on the teams that may want it the most.

The Patriots would obviously be in a good spot if they kept the third overall selection. This would give them a chance to draft one of the top-three quarterbacks, like Caleb Williams, Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels to position themselves well for the future.

Alternatively, New England could also draft a wide receiver, like Marvin Harrison Jr. The organization has several holes on their roster, and they could use the third overall selection in a multitude of ways.

However, if they decide to swing a draft day trade, Fowler indicated that the Las Vegas Raiders and Minnesota Vikings could be two teams to watch for to make the jump up.

Fowler wrote:

The Las Vegas Raiders (No. 13) might be a team to watch. New coach Antonio Pierce is a big fan of Daniels from their days together at Arizona State, and word is that Pierce evaluated offensive coordinators with the loose possibility of Daniels in mind. People around the league are keeping an eye on the Minnesota Vikings at No. 11, too. They did a lot of quarterback homework last offseason and could eventually target one high in the draft with free agent Kirk Cousins’ future in Minnesota uncertain. But moving from No. 11 into the top three would cost GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah a ton of draft capital.

Trading down would certainly be a risky move for New England, given that they need a game-changer at the quarterback position.

Nevertheless, additional draft capital could also help the organization, as they need to address several areas of the roster in rather short order.
