These toys from the 1990s could earn you an absolute fortune

The 90s for many was a bit of a golden age.

The decade is now looked on with huge nostalgia with millennials across the globe now entering their 30s.

Many may look on their childhood fondly and in particular at the now iconic 90s toys that

But did you know that some of those toys could now bring you some happiness in the form of financial gain.

Thankfully the experts at TheToyZone have analysed the price of 343 classic toys from the 90s to find the most valuable in the world.

And with some of these toys being sold for as high as $50,000 (€41,255) you'd be mad not to try dig out some of your old possessions to see if you can make a few quid.

Beanie Baby

Who didn't have a Beanie Baby growing up in the 90s?

The plush toys were a staple of the era and have since become a serious collectors item.

In many ways the toy was born collectible with so many varieties, each with their name and history printed in the swing tag.

In fact TheToyZone found that nine of the top 10 most valuable ‘90s toys are Beanie Babies.

And one of the most sought after plush teddy's 'Rainbow The Chameleon' is worth a whopping $50,000 (€41,255).

GoldenEye

Video games, despite being a relatively new phenomenon, have become so ingrained in pop culture that it's hard to realise there is already a vast history growing around the industry.

With home gaming systems becoming all the rage in 90s nearly everyone who had a Nintendo 64 also had a copy of Goldeneye 007.

If you somehow resisted unpacking the cartridge it took you half a year to save for in 1993, now could be the time to act. The biggest sale on Mavin was for Goldeneye 007 for Nintendo 64.

It sold in the autumn of 2020 for a dollar under $15,000 (€12,376).

Home Alone Merchandise

The Home Alone 2 Talk Boy (Amazon)

Home Alone dominated the juvenile cinematic mindscape at the turn of the ‘90s.

The film was so popular it would go on to spawn an equally popular sequel which of course led to the inevtiable merchandise to go with it

Home Alone 2 saw the debut of the Talkboy, the child-sized Dictaphone that child star Macaulay Culkin uses to commit credit card fraud in the movie.

Film director John Hughes designed the Talkboy and other gadgets with a toy manufacturer and sold a ton of toy versions at $30 a pop.

Still, a mint one is rare today, and they sell for up to $10,000 (€8,251) on Mavin.

Furbys

Another absolute classic 90s toy, it was hard to find a home that didn't have at least one of these cuddly creatures.

Part Tamagotchi, part mogwai – all Frankenstein, the Furby mashed together cuteness and interactivity. It got the edge on the Tamagotchi toys by being soft and huggable.

The toy shifted nearly two million units in the Christmas season of 1998 alone, rising to 40m within three years.

While they are very much out of fashion some Furbies can fetch up to $10,000 from the right buyer.

Nintendo Game Boy

Paving the way for the likes of the Nintendo DS and Switch, the Game Boy was a revolutionary hand held gaming system.

Since first hitting the market the Game Boy went through many interations bringing joy to countless kids across the globe with it's brilliant variety of games.

Arguable some of the most popular games were the Pokeman franchise.

While typically you can find refurbished consoles selling online for around 50 -70thea special edition Pikachu Game Boy is worth a whopping $7,550 (€6,229).
