These rare and unseen photos of 1970s Glasgow were rescued from an architect's skip

Glasgow Live reader Chris Doak discovered a box of photographs in a skip at the back of an architect's office in the Park District when the company were having a clear-out.

He believes that the photos were originally taken by photographers Bryan and Shear and that they were commissioned as an aid for the design of the proposed pedestrianisation of Buchanan Street.

The black and white photographs show the street when traffic was still allowed down it at all hours - judging by the Christmas decorations in one picture, they were taken in December.

It’s a fascinating insight into Glasgow’s high streets at the time, with many shops pictured now lost forever.
