These Palace fans are saying the same thing about facing Spurs in the first game at new stadium

It is a big night for Tottenham Hotspur as they play their first game in their new stadium tonight (Wednesday) against Crystal Palace.

Tottenham's new stadium plays host to its first Premier League fixture as the Eagles visit for a London derby this evening, with the £1billion stadium complex finally opening after a number of delays over the past year.

But while Spurs will be hoping to start life in their new home with a win, they have been sent a warning by former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson, who has described Palace as being among the worst opponents for the opening game at the new stadium.

What Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has said about Tottenham's new stadium

Palace have impressed on the road so far this season, winning six of their 15 away games in the Premier League this season, including all three when they have played in their red and blue home kit [against Fulham, Manchester City and Wolves], which they will also be wearing this evening (Wednesday).

The Eagles have also won three of their last four away games in all competitions, while they come into the game in better form than their hosts, who have not won any of their last five Premier League fixtures.

What the pundits are predicting for Spurs vs Crystal Palace at the new Tottenham stadium

Palace have also previously spoiled a party at the home of a 'big six' side, having defeated Liverpool 3-1 in Steven Gerrard's final game at Anfield back in 2015.

And Palace fans are hoping that the Eagles can play the role of party poopers once again as Mauricio Pochettino's men make their long-awaited debut at their new home, as the following tweets show.
