When it comes to making history, Scottish women throughout the ages have done more than their fair share of heavy lifting.
But with more statues of animals than of women, modern day Scotland has often done a bad job of remembering these inspiring women.
Lothians MSP Sarah Boyack told Edinburgh Live that despite the city's history of raising "notable daughters" they can be hard to locate in statues.
Sarah Boyack said: “Rightfully, animals and men deserve a place on a plinth for their notable endeavours but surely women are equally deserving of recognition?
“We should be looking to inspire our next generation of young women. We produce female talent across literature, film, industry and medicine, and the younger generation – both male and female – should be able to see that around them in the women who are publicly commemorated.
“A statue of Queen Victoria does not encompass the myriad of experiences and accomplishments of women
