These flattering Taylor Morris frames are so lightweight, you'll forget you're even wearing them

When it comes to choosing the best sunglasses, it can be tempting to do one of three things. Some people stick to the classics, like Ray-Ban Wayfarers or Clubmasters, buying the same style on repeat for a lifetime, whilst some people might splash out on designer sunglasses.

Alternatively, you might opt for very affordable, trend-led high street options, buying several pairs every year and focusing more on the style than the more technical features. No judgement here!

But there is a fourth option: mid-range labels like Jimmy Fairly, Finlay and Taylor Morris, that won't break the bank but will impress you with their quality and attention to detail. They make frames you'll want to wear all year-round, regardless of the weather or the season.

I've owned this pair of Taylor Morris sunglasses for a few years now, and although I love them, they are quite a statement, so I wanted to try some everyday sunnies that are easy to keep in my handbag, ready for anything I might require them for - driving, spells of September sunshine, or even pushing back my hair when I haven't had much time to style it.

The George Arthur is a bestselling style for the brand, and the name comes from two of the founders' middle names.

I absolutely love these sunglasses, and reading through the reviews on the website, I realised I'm not alone. One happy customer wrote: "I now have two pairs of George Arthurs (one with prescription and one without) and I'm genuinely stopping myself from buying more colours!

"They're so comfortable and lightweight and look great, absolute favourite sunglasses ever. My partner is always stealing them too! Have to give a special mention to the service at TM too. They're so helpful and always on hand to respond to any queries or sort out any problems really quickly. Highly recommend!"

Taylor Morris George Arthur sunglasses: style

Pippa Middleton, Emma Roberts and Nicole Scherzinger are all big fans of British brand Taylor Morris, so it almost goes without saying that they know what they're doing when it comes to stylish sunnies.

My pair is a tobacco colour, which is a clear acetate frame tinted with a very light brown tinge. I normally stick to tortoiseshell or black, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed the crystal design. They were much more complementary to my colouring than harsh black.

The shape is really flattering as well - not so round that they feel a little John Lennon-esque, rather they're softly rounded and really in proportion. Round frames are top of our list of the eyeglasses trends 2025, and they're never too far from the sunglasses trends, either.

Personally, I really love the minimal branding. If you're a fan of Quiet Luxury, you'll appreciate the subtle three-metal dot detailing on the arm and the barely noticeable brand logo on the lenses. If people want to know where they're from (which they will!), they're going to have to ask.

Taylor Morris George Arthur sunglasses: fit

For me, fit and feel is where these shades really excel. They're so incredibly lightweight that you truly will forget they're on. The arms fit perfectly, and whilst I have other pairs of sunglasses that leave an annoying red mark on the bridge of my nose for a while after I take them off, I had no such problem with the keyhole-shaped bridge on the George Arthur sunglasses.

Taylor Morris George Arthur sunglasses: function & technology

Designed in London, these sunglasses are crafted with CR39 lenses with CAT3 UV protection. For sunglasses novices like me, that means highly scratch-resistant lenses. Category 3 UV protection is perfect for everyday wear (the highest category is 4, and that's for intense sunshine when you're skiing, for example).

The lenses aren't polarised; however, Taylor Morris also offers the George Arthur II, which is a slightly larger version with polarised lenses.

Taylor Morris George Arthur sunglasses: verdict

I would consider these sunglasses excellent value for money. If my last pair of Taylor Morris shades is anything to go by, they'll last for years. When you think that sunglasses aren't just for summer (like wearing SPF, you still want to protect your eyes from UV rays in the colder months!), the cost per wear is really impressive.

A really great all-rounder, I can't emphasise enough how lightweight yet sturdy these are. They're comfortable, chic and just... easy. They'll flatter most face shapes and protect your eyes for years to come. What more could you ask for?
