These Crystal Palace fans are saying the same things after Tottenham's cup exit at Colchester

It was the shock of the Carabao Cup third round so far as Colchester United knocked Tottenham Hotspur out of the competition last night (Tuesday).

The League Two side proved to be giant killers as they drew 0-0 with Mauricio Pochettino’s men in Essex, before prevailing on penalties after Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura both missed from the spot for Spurs.

It was a result that stunned many football fans, with Colchester currently sitting tenth in the fourth tier of English football, while for Spurs it is another potential chance at winning a trophy that has gone begging.

But this was not the first time this season that Colchester had knocked out a Premier League side in the competition.

In the second round, the Essex side visited south London to take on Crystal Palace, with the same outcome.

Carabao Cup third round draw in full

Despite naming a strong side and dominating for large periods of the game, Palace were unable to find a way past a resolute Colchester defence, with the League Two side winning 5-4 on penalties after Andros Townsend’s spot kick was saved by Dean Gerken.

There was, therefore, a sense of deja vu about the result last night, and it got some Crystal Palace fans talking on social media.

Here’s what they have been saying after Tottenham exited the competition at the hands of John McGreal’s side.
