These Coventry City hot takes on Bristol Rovers star Jonson Clarke-Harris have not aged well

Bristol Rovers are hopeful of tying star striker Jonson Clarke-Harris down to a new contract this week.

The Gas will be sitting down with representatives of their talismanic goal scorer this week in the hopes of agreeing a deal that will make him the highest-paid player at the club.

It is a whirlwind turnaround for Clarke-Harris, who has 19 goals in 29 games for Rovers.

Twelve months ago, he found himself in and out of Coventry City's side following their promotion to League One.

Whilst the striker had scored six goals for his boyhood club in the first half of the campaign, he was transferred to Bristol Rovers on transfer deadline day in January.

Whilst there was a fair amount of sadness and dismay from some Coventry fans at seeing Clarke-Harris leave, others on social media were a little more critical of their departing forward.

To spare those Sky Blues fans the embarrassment, we have left their names out of this article, but here are some of the worst 'hot takes' when Clarke-Harris joined Rovers.

"Not a goalscorer. Not a good enough hold up player. Not really a hardman or a bully. Terrible touch. Awful link up play. Other than that, sorry to see him go."

"Bottom line is, he was never going to be good enough. Goals have been a massive problem and Clarke-Harris was never the answer. We are light up there now, mind you, Chaplin better stop missing sitters..."

"Can't help but feel this is a bad decision. He'll not score you loads but he's a very good target man who brings the midfield into play."

"Served us well in League Two. Touch and finishing found wanting this season."

"Good riddance. Great business taking into account entire month. Jono never held it up. For a big man he was dreadful in the air."

"Let's be honest it hasn't worked out with JCH, yes he wins a few headers but that's about it."

"Dosent really score, good a long range shots, would be a good bench player."

"Bet Bristol Rovers are buzzing for their five goals a season. He will give you plenty every game but won’t add goals to your game."

"Unlucky Bristol Rovers. He's not a great finisher."
