These Cadbury products have been recalled over deadly bacteria fears

Two Cadbury desserts are being recalled over fears they contain the potentially deadly bacteria Listeria.

The caramel cheesecake and Dairy Milk cheesecake puddings may be affected by the contamination. If eaten the bacteria could cause listeriosis, which may lead to sepsis, meningitis and encephalitis.

This condition is said to cause death in one in five cases, while it may cause stillbirth or spontaneous abortion in pregnant women.

Shop owners and customers are being urged to return the dessert products affected as a precaution.

Müller produce the desserts and their spokesperson told the Mirror: "As a precautionary measure a decision has been taken to recall some batches of the Cadbury Caramel Cheesecake and Cadbury Dairy Milk Cheesecake desserts (2x85g), due to the possible presence of listeria in the product.

"Müller produces these products under license from Cadbury and has stressed that this does not impact any other products it produces for Cadbury; of Cadbury Cheesecake variants in the UK or other markets.

"We have informed the Food Standards Agency of this action and they have issued a Product Information Recall Notice."

They added: "This is an isolated incident and an extensive investigation is being carried out."

Anyone wishing to return the product should email consumers@muller.co.uk or phone 01630 692000.
