These Arsenal fans name the loan signing Mikel Arteta should make to replace Dani Ceballos

Dani Ceballos has not had the happiest time in London.

His Arsenal career started with a bang, as he made an impressive string of performances at the beginning of the season.

But injuries and a change of manager has impacted his place in the squad.

Rumours swirled around the beginning of the January transfer window that the midfielder had been in contact with his parent club Real Madrid in order to end his Arsenal loan prematurely.

Valencia have been rumoured to be interested in signing the 23-year-old on a deal until the end of the season, but with just a day remaining of the January transfer window, that looks unlikely.

Art de Roche on the state of play

However, were it to go through, a number of Arsenal fans have already suggested who they want Mikel Arteta to sign as a replacement for the midfielder.

Santi Cazorla left the Gunners in 2018 after six years in North London. The midfielder went through hell with injuries, with doctors telling him at one stage that he may not be able to walk again without suffering pain.

However, after a torrid time and an Arsenal exit, the midfielder made a comeback in Spain with Villarreal - and he is back impressing in La Liga.

The 35-year-old has also made a return to the Spanish national team, and has admitted that he would love to make one more comeback and rejoin the Gunners before he retires.

And the Arsenal fans are adamant that Mikel Arteta should make a move for Cazorla.

Cazorla is on a contract at Villarreal until the end of the season, so would be able to negotiate a free transfer at the end of the season should Arteta be tempted to make a move.

The midfielder would surely be willing to consider a move back to London - but could it happen? Would the Gunners consider a loan deal to bring the magician home?

Arsenal fans can only hope.
