These Arsenal fans all noticed what happened when William Saliba returned for St Etienne

It was a welcome return from injury for William Saliba as the Arsenal loanee featured for St Etienne in the Coupe de France.

Saliba has been out since November with a fractured metatarsal, with the 18-year-old returning to Arsenal's training ground at London Colney as part of his rehabilitation.

But he was back in action for Les Verts this evening as they faced Monaco in the round of 16 in the French Cup, with Saliba starting the contest for St Etienne.

And he put in a fine display as well, helping St Etienne to a 1-0 victory against Monaco.

Coincidentally, Monaco were the last side Saliba faced when playing for St Etienne back in November, with Les Verts also winning that game 1-0.

The victory against Monaco in the cup was also St Etienne's first clean sheet since November against a fellow Ligue 1 side - and the fact that it came with Saliba in the side was not lost on Arsenal fans.

Here's what they had to say about the teenager, who signed for the Gunners last summer, before being loaned back to St Etienne.

So far this season, Saliba has featured in nine games for St Etienne, with his number of appearances restricted by injury problems, having also missed the start of the campaign with a hamstring injury.

But in the nine games he has played in all competitions, St Etienne are unbeaten, with six wins and three draws.

Saliba is set to return to Arsenal to join Mikel Arteta's side at the end of the season.
