These Arsenal and Liverpool fans are saying the same thing about VAR as Spurs are denied penalty

Tottenham fans have been left cursing their luck this evening (Sunday) after having a penalty appeal turned down during their 1-0 defeat against Newcastle.

With Spurs chasing the game in the closing stages, the hosts had a big penalty appeal waved away by referee Mike Dean, as Harry Kane went down in the box under a challenge from Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles.

The referee turned away the Spurs protests, and the incident was reviewed by the video assistant referee (VAR) in Stockley Park, but the decision made by Dean was not overturned, with Tottenham left frustrated in their pursuit of an equaliser.

Understandably, Spurs fans were not happy and were left questioning VAR after seeing their protests fall on deaf ears.

And they were not the only ones, with some fans of their main rivals in the Premier League also questioning how it was not a penalty for Spurs.

That included supporters of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Everton, with many fans in agreement that Tottenham should have been given a penalty.

Here's what some fans have been saying on social networking website Twitter.

It summed up a frustrating afternoon for the hosts though, with Mauricio Pochettino's men losing out for just the second time at their new home in the Premier League, with Joelinton's first half goal proving to be the difference between the two sides at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
