Only a handful of stores will remain open at the Trafford Centre during the UK-wide lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
All retail stores selling non-essential items have been closed with immediate effect following the announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday evening (March 23).
Stores which sell necessities, such as food and medicine, will stay open - including supermarkets, health shops and pharmacies.
Shops selling non-essential items, such as clothing and electronics stores; hair, beauty and nail salons will shut.
Bosses at the Trafford Centre said they working on a 'partially-closed basis'.
The following stores will stay open - M&S (food only), Boots, Superdrug and Holland & Barrett.
All other shops, cafes and restaurants will stay shut during the lock-down.
A spokesman for intu, which runs the shopping centre, said: "Following the Government’s update that all non-essential shops are to close, we can confirm that intu Trafford Centre will now be operating on a partially closed basis.
"Our centres sit at the heart of many of their communities and provide access to vital services such as pharmacies and supermarkets.
"As many of these essential services can only be reached through the centres themselves, we will ensure all our visitors are able to access them whilst supporting those retailers who need to stay open.
"A small number of our team will be on hand to make sure our centres remain clean and safe places to visit.
"Opening times will vary so please check the website for details.
"We would like to thank our fantastic team at intu who are working very hard in very challenging circumstances, to support our retailers, serve our communities and take care of one another. Our thoughts are with everyone during this difficult time."
The shopping centre will be open during the following times:
- Monday -10am - 10pm
- Tuesday -10am - 10pm
- Wednesday -10am - 10pm
- Thursday -10am - 10pm
- Friday -10am - 10pm
- Saturday -10am - 9pm
- Sunday -12pm - 6pm
PM Mr Johnson announced a raft of new measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.
People will only be allowed to leave their homes for essential shopping, for exercise, medical appointments or to care for someone else’s medical needs.
Travel to work will only be allowed if absolutely necessary.
The police have been given powers to issue fines to people who break the rules.
Gatherings in public will be broken up.
The lockdown will be in force for at least three weeks.
