These are the roadworks that will cause major traffic delays in Bolton this week

Drivers are being warned to look out for these roadworks that could cause huge delays in Bolton this week.

Luckily for some commuters, there are some roadworks in Markland Hill and Little Lever that are expected to finish in the coming days.

But other long-term works are just starting, with temporary traffic lights being installed in one road until May.

Here are all the major roadworks drivers in Bolton should look out and plan for this week.

Bridge Street (Prestolee New Bridge), Stoneclough

Temporary traffic lights will have been in place here since Monday February 24 for bridge refurbishment. They will continue into April, with Bolton Council's Highways Department expecting the work to be finished on Friday April 4.

Bury Road (junction with Crompton Way) and Crompton Way (junction with Bury Road), Bolton

A lane closure, during off-peak hours, will continue in both roads until Tuesday May 5.

The works to improve the junction began on Saturday February 1 and have been causing serious traffic problems in the surrounding areas.

Chorley New Road (junction with Winter Hey Lane), Horwich

Temporary traffic lights will be operating in off-peak hours. Traffic signal works began in the road on Monday February 24 and will continue until Friday April 3.

Coronation Street (Newport Arcade to Victoria Square), Bolton

A lane has been closed here since August and there are still months to go until The Octagon reconstruction is completed. Bolton Council says the lane will be closed until May.

Howell Croft South (outside Octagon Theatre), Bolton

A one-way towards Le Mans Crescent has been in place since August and is expected to continue into May for reconstruction works at the theatre.

High Street, Little Lever

Bolton Council is expecting 'medium' levels of traffic disruption because of temporary traffic lights. Gas works have been ongoing since Friday February 14.

The good news is that these works will finish this week, coming to an end on Thursday March 12.

Hulme Road (at Kearsley Hall Road), Stoneclough

Temporary traffic lights are causing disruption for water works by United Utilities. Works have been ongoing since Saturday February 15 and will be continuing until Friday March 27.

Markland Hill Lane, Bolton

Water works will be carried out this week by United Utilities and there will be temporary traffic lights on the road.

The works started on Tuesday March 3 and will finish tomorrow, Monday March 9.

Slackley Brow, Kearsley

Slackley Brow will be closed during off-peak hours until Monday March 16. Pylon work began on Friday February 21 and has been causing major traffic disruption.

Somerton Road, Bolton

There will be medium levels of traffic disruption as temporary traffic lights are installed. The delays will continue until May.

The gas works were started by Cadent on Tuesday March 3, they will finish on Friday May 1.
