These are the new coronavirus hotspots in Greater Manchester

A neighbourhood in Oldham has emerged as the new coronavirus hotspot in Greater Manchester.

Derker had the highest Covid infection rate in the week ending November 11.

The 60 positive tests in that week recorded meant the area had an infection rate of 1,022 per 100,000.

An infection rate of over 1,000 means that at least 1 per cent of the local population tested positive for Covid-19 in the space of just one week.

The neighbourhood of Wigan, Marylebone and Bottling Wood also had an infection rate of over 1,000.

In the same week, 82 positive cases were recorded in the area - the infection rate was reported at 1,018 per 100,000.

11 of the top 20 Covid hotspots across the region are in Oldham.

While infection rates across Greater Manchester remain very high, the latest figures show they have fallen by almost a fifth.

In the seven days to November 13 the region-wide infection rate was 427.6 cases per 100,000 people.

That's down by 19% on the previous week.

Over the same period the infection rate across England rose by 10%.

Neighbourhood infection rates are posted on a  UK government interactive map  which is updated by the public health officials.

On the map, the country is split up into statistical areas known as Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs), which are generally larger than council wards and have a population of between 5,000 and 15,000.
