These are the medals you'll get if you complete a Robin Hood Marathon event in 2019

Organisers of this year's Robin Hood Marathon events have unveiled the specially-engraved medals that will be presented to runners as they cross the finish line.

This year’s Half Marathon medal - revealed on Friday morning in Wollaton Park - is edged in green with matching ribbon, and features an iconic image of the stag adopted by the race as its emblem in recent years.

Medals for the Mini Marathon and the Nottingham Mile Challenge - which are also taking place during the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Events weekend in September - have their own designs.

The round Mini Marathon Medal has a design with red trim, while the Nottingham Mile Challenge medal has an cut-out design and a black and yellow ribbon.

More than ten thousand runners are expected to take part in the three races on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September.

Race Director Judith Manson, from race organiser Goldline Events, told Nottinghamshire Live: “We are thrilled to unveil this year’s medals. The race medals have always incorporated the history and character of this great city.

"We love the new look design featuring the stag - a symbol of the city and the race.

"Wollaton Park is a favourite spot on our picturesque route. If runners are lucky on Sunday 29 September they might just see one of these impressive animals."

In addition to the 10,000 half marathon entrants, organisers hope that another 2,500 runners will join the Mini Marathon.

This year's route has been altered slightly after feedback from last year's runners said they didn't like the twists and inclines around Mile 2 on the half marathon route.

One loop has been removed so runners can enjoy an easier downhill section along Lenton Road, into the Park Estate.

The route still starts and finishes on Victoria Embankment, where the tents and inflatables of the Race Village create a event's unique atmosphere. However, the start will now be closer to the village.
