These are the garden and DIY centres still trading in and around Edinburgh during lockdown

With everyone trapped at home due to the coronavirus shutdown, there has been an increase in demand for DIY and garden goods across the capital.

Earlier in the week, Edinburgh Live reported on a lengthy queue outside B&Q as excited shoppers waited for hours to get into the re-opening of the store.

But if you don't fancy waiting in a queue for that long, where else can you go in the capital to get your DIY fix? Here are the garden and DIY centres in Edinburgh who are still trading.

Pentland Plants

(Pentland Plants)

Although you can no longer walk into Pentland Plants, they are currently open to orders for home delivery.

They advise to: "browse our products page for more information, to check our current stock and place your order."

They currently are only able to deliver to the following postcodes: EH9, EH10, EH13, EH16, EH17, EH18, EH19, EH20, EH22, EH23, EH24, EH25 and EH26.

Dobbies Garden Centre

Dobbies sell everything from house plants to plant fertiliser. Unfortunately, they are no longer open but they are providing a delivery service.

They say: "Online delivery is still operating however please be aware that delivery times may be extended as both our team and our suppliers adapt to new ways of working in order to stay safe. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you."

B&Q Newcraighall

B&Q in Edinburgh opened back up in the capital much to the delight of Edinburgh locals who queued for hours to get in.

You can still enter the store in Newcraighall but expect queues as they limit the number of people who can enter the store.

Wickes Murrayfield

Wickes in Murrayfield sell a variety of DIY material such as paint and building equipment.

They are still offering a limited click and collect service.

They said: "Click and Collect orders can be collected Monday to Saturday - please wait for confirmation that your collection is ready before travelling to store. Closed Sunday."

Wilko Newcraighall

Wilko at Fort Kinnaird is still operating a 9am -5pm service at their DIY store.

They are also still operating a delivery service, however stock is "limited"

They are also limiting how the amount of items customers can purchase at once.
