These are the delays facing commuters on Greater Manchester roads and motorways this morning

Commuters are facing delays on Greater Manchester’s motorways this morning as a deluge of rain sets in across the region.

Traffic is currently being held on the M60 at Prestwich following a collision.

Highways officers are working at junction 19 at Heaton Park following a crash on the clockwise carriageway.

Highways England tweeted: “UPDATE - #M60 clockwise at #J19 (#HeatonPark) - This has been moved to the hard shoulder, all closures removed, traffic should start to be moving past scene.”

Commuters heading into rush hour are also facing delays on the M62 this morning.

There are currently narrow lanes and a speed restriction of 50mph due to major smart motorway upgrade works in both directions.

This is from junction 10 of the M6 at Croft Interchange up to junction 12 of the M60 at Eccles Interchange.

Meanwhile, in Bolton, traffic is queueing on the A666 St Peters Way southbound from Manchester Road up to the M61 at Kearsley roundabout.

A lane closure is in place due to roadworks.

Over in Tameside, there are road closures in place in both directions on the A670 Stockport Road, in Mossley.

This is due to gas mains work from Stamford Road to Carrhill Road. Traffic is being diverted.

In Oldham, drivers face delays on the A62 Huddersfield Road.

The road is still closed in both directions due to long-term sewer works from The Sound to Lark Hill Lane.

This is affecting traffic between Oldham and Huddersfield.
