We are edging towards the festive period, which will leave many of us in need of some urgent R&R come the new year. And given its focus on all things wellbeing, January is the perfect time of year to plot a mini spa break and banish those winter blues.
Picking the right spa for you can be tricky, however, and if you're going to shell out for the luxury, it's worth doing your research before parting with your hard-earned cash.
To help you on your way, the Good Spa Guide has released its annual ranking of the best spas in the UK. The website asks customers for their top picks of the best day spas, country retreats and urban escapes, among other categories.
No London spas were included on the list this year. The closest to the capital is The Spa at the South Lodge Hotel in West Sussex, a brand new retreat that opened this year and has plenty of wellnessy features, such as a rasul mud therapy suite, a chamomile-infused sauna and aromatic herbal steam room – which, presumably, will be just what the doctor ordered following party season.
