These are the banks set to close in Wales as Lloyds Banking Group announces it will axe 56 branches

Lloyds Banking Group has announced it will close 56 branches across the UK between April and October 2020.

In total, the closures will include 31 Lloyds, 10 Halifax and 15 Bank of Scotland branches.

The group confirmed three Lloyds Bank sites in Wales - Cowbridge, Mumbles Swansea and Colwyn Bay - are among those shutting their doors.

The decision is in response to changing customer behaviour and the move toward online banking, they said in a statement.

It's believed the closures will see staff numbers cut by "under 80" as many employees are redeployed to other sites, according to banking union Accord.

A Lloyds Banking Group spokeswoman said: "We are committed to having the largest branch network in the UK and, in addition to our branches, all our customers can also use the Post Office to access their banking locally, alongside our mobile branches which visit many rural communities."
