Destiny 2 has been showing off some new Beyond Light footage and some are starting to worry that it may be “too much.” So far, I really don’t think that’s true. We’ve seen pretty much nothing of Europa and just tiny glimpses into the facilities under the surface. We’ve seen a lot more stasis powers recently, but past that, a handful of destination weapons and one armor set.
Just one.
This armor set has already split the playerbase with some liking the design and others not. I like the Titan set the most, and the Warlock’s little book. But I think I liked the Haunted Astronauts of Shadowkeep better.
But the point stands that this is one armor set, and everyone is forgetting that we should be getting way, way more between actual sets and ornaments when Beyond Light hits, at least going by past seasons and what we know about what’s coming. I wanted to go through all the potential sets to remind you. Here they are:
1. Europa Set – This is the destination armor we’ve been talking about, like every destination gets its own set.
2. Deep Stone Crypt Raid Armor – There’s a new raid, there will be new raid armor, end of story.
3. Eververse/Not-Eververse Armor Ornaments – We don’t know if Bungie is doing something similar to what they did in Arrivals and taking the Eververse set out of Eververse and putting it somewhere else (Prophecy with the Daito set, this season) or if it might head back to Eververse, but it should be somewhere one way or another.
4. Seasonal Armor – Remember that Shadowkeep and Undying armor were separate, and in this case, no, I don’t think the Europa destination set would be the same as the Seasonal set in the battle pass or attached to a specific seasonal activity.
5. Battle Pass Ornaments – This may just be an upgraded version of the Seasonal set (which is kind of how it is in Arrivals this season), but technically it’s a new set all the same, and unless the battle pass is changed, we should get this too.
6. Vendor Refresh Set – Ah, forgot about this didn’t you? Bungie said that there would be a new armor set shared between the Vanguard, Crucible and Gambit as a “vendor refresh” with color/texture differences between them, but the same model. So not three new sets, but I’m at least counting it as one.
7. Cosmodrome Set – This one I am not totally sure about, but given that the Cosmodrome is going to be another new destination, it stands to reason that it should also have its own destination armor, should it not? But if this list is getting long, this may be cut or added later.
8. The Dawning Ornaments – Festival of the Lost is technically part of Season of Arrivals now, but yes, there will almost certainly be an Eververse Dawning set of ornamental armor sold this year, as one is sold every year.
Not showing up:
Iron Banner Armor – I am guessing that no, we will not get a new Iron Banner set given how long that potential list is above, even though we did get a new one when Shadowkeep hit.
Trials Armor – They already told us that new Trials armor would be coming the season after this, not for Beyond Light
In short, if you don’t like the Europa set that much, don’t worry too much as I think at minimum, 5-6 new sets should be coming this season, with 8 at the absolute most if they go down all the potential paths I’ve listed here. As for weapons, that’s definitely more up in the air, but armor I am not worried about at this point, and you shouldn’t be either.
