These are some of Oldham's worst potholed streets as council aims to repair 170 of them

Potholes are a huge bugbear of all road users, potentially causing damage to vehicles or even injury.

The M.E.N. asked for examples of some of the worst potholes across Oldham, as today marks National Pothole Day.

Streets in Chadderton, Coppice, Hathershaw and High Crompton were some of those suggested by our readers.

Oldham council said it is investing £12million in highways funding, and that by the end of the 2022 financial year more than 170 roads will have been repaired.

Residents can report a pothole and check which roads are set to be resurfaced on the council's website.

Coun Barbara Brownridge, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Culture, said: "Improving roads has always been a priority for us as we know residents feel strongly about them. That’s why we are moving on with our £12m highways investment programme despite the current Coronavirus crisis.

"By the end of the financial year 2022 we will have surfaced and repaired more than 170 roads across Oldham as part of our three-year programme.

"This continued investment shows we want to get the basics right and ensure that our roads are safe and are in a good condition for pedestrians and drivers to use. Over the coming weeks and months our teams will be out across the borough surfacing and repairing roads."
