The national median home price was $389,000 in August 2025, according to Homes.com. That was up 2.4% from the prior year but below the June 2025 peak of $395,000. Home prices grew an average of 3.5% during the first eight months of 2025, down from a 7% increase during the same period in 2024.
In some markets, home prices have even declined — making them prime hunting grounds for value-minded buyers.
