Theresa May startled motorists when she stopped off at a service station on her way to Wales for her Easter holidays.
The prime minister was spotted dashing through the Welcome Break on the M54 at Shifnal in Shropshire on Saturday.
Witnesses said the women's toilets were declared out-of-bounds to the public during Ms May’s visit.
The event was captured on camera by 23-year-old Jake Garbett, who told the Shropshire Star: “I saw this woman and thought ‘is that the Prime Minister?’
“Then I noticed about four blokes with her and one was talking into his collar. That was a giveaway that it was Theresa May.”
Footage shows the prime minister chatting to her husband as they pass fellow travellers and a doughnut display. They were then seen heading to a waiting Jaguar before driving off.
It is believed Ms May and her husband were driving to Wales for their annual walking holiday.
The prime minister notoriously made the decision to call a snap election while walking in the Dolgellau area in Easter 2017.
