Theresa May did a 's*** job' as PM and shouldn't be praised for being a woman, says comedian Kathy Burke

Kathy Burke has spoken out about the 'terrible mess' of politics in Britain today and has slammed Theresa May for her former role as Prime Minister.

Speaking to The Guardian ahead of her new documentary series, the award-winning actor said that Mrs May did a "s*** job" and that it's "crap" that she's praised for being a woman.

Referencing the increasing cost of living in London - where it now "costs a fortune to live in someone’s bin shed" - Kathy said she "feels sorry for young people".

She added: "If we want equality, we shouldn’t then expect to be praised just because we’re doing a certain job. That’s not equality.

"Equality is acknowledging that she did a s*** job."

After years of being a Labour supporter, Kathy admitted that she may now vote Green because of her worry over the planet.

In her open interview, which is now trending on Twitter , Kathy spoke of her new three-part documentary about what it means to be a woman today.

Although the Kevin and Perry star grew up in an all-male household, Kathy will uncover themes of beauty and image, work and motherhood, as well as sex and relationship.

However just before filming began last year, the 55-year-old was diagnosed with Bell's palsy - a condition that causes temporary facial paralysis.

Kathy said: "This is a unique opportunity for me to meet ordinary and extraordinary women from all walks of life."
