Theresa May 100-1 to win Strictly Come Dancing after announcing resignation

Leading bookmaker Coral is offering odds of 100-1 on Theresa May winning Strictly Come Dancing after bet was requested by a number of online customers.

The current Prime Minister , who is standing down in June, can be backed on Coral's website with the money being returned if she does not take part in the BBC' s hit show.

"A few punters are clearly feeling lucky and have backed Theresa May to win Strictly Come Dancing this winter.

"We're offering 100-1 on the PM to go all the way and win the Glitterball Trophy and she'll have to improve her moves if she's to enjoy more success on the dancefloor than the houses of Parliament," said Coral's Harry Aitkenhead.

The Strictly bets come as May arrived in Brussels for a European Union summit where she insisted that Brexit was now a problem for her successor.

It was the first time the Tory leader had spoken in public since her party's disastrous results at the EU election which saw the party reduced to just four MEPs after the loss of 15 seats.

She said: "I think the best way to do that is with a deal, but it will be for my successor and for Parliament to find a way forward to get a consensus and I hope those election results will focus Parliament on the need to deliver Brexit.

"The best option for the UK is to leave the EU with a deal."

May spoke as she arrived for talks among all 28 national leaders in the bloc to name five people to hold the European Union's top jobs for the next five years.
