There will be no complacency from Ireland against Russia - Andy Farrell

Andy Farrell claims there will be complacency from Ireland against Russia after what happened against the World Cup hosts.

Ireland need to restore confidence with a convincing victory over the pool minnows in Kobe following the disastrous defeat to Japan five days ago

"We look back to our last result, that's enough," said assistant boss Farrell, who replaces Joe Schmidt in the hot-seat after the tournament.

"It doesn't really matter who we're playing against this week, whether it's Russia or New Zealand.

"The same applies, it's about getting back on the horse and putting in a performance. We lost to Japan, so it wasn't good enough."

Farrell's son Owen played in England's win over the USA in the sweatbox Misaki Stadium last week - and Ireland know that the intense heat and humidity means they can't afford to be careless.

"It's something we have to cope with and adapt to," said Farrell.

"We know the stats from the last two games that have been here, 30 handling errors in one and 35 in the other. It's being able to adapt to that.

"How do we adapt? We make sure there's a no excuse mentality.

"There are going to be errors, we need to make sure that our defence shapes up pretty quickly to anything that is turned over".
