Shortly afterwards, between 6.30-7am, the second victim - a man in his 20s - was stabbed in the leg as he walked along Concord Way, close to the library in Dukinfield.

A photo of the young man's injuries was shared on social media by family who claim the attacker 'came out of the bushes' before stabbing him with the weapon.

GMP say the two incidents are being treated as linked and that it is not yet known what the sharp object used was.

Nothing was stolen from either victim, and enquiries are ongoing to trace the person responsible.

The suspect is described as a white man, around 6 feet 2 inches tall and he was wearing a dark hooded jumper and dark clothing.

Anyone with any information about what happened is asked to contact police on 0161 856 9262 quoting incident number 415 of October 9.
