There's secret fairy trail just outside of Glasgow - and it might just be the cutest thing we've ever seen

If you go down to the woods today, you'll be in for a big surprise...

In fact, you'd be forgiven for thinking Tinker Bell and co has upped sticks and all moved to a village just ten miles north of Glasgow.

A small woodland patch in Milton of Campsie has transformed into fairy haven during lockdown, full of brightly-coloured doors and delicate homes built from moss and twigs.

The fantastical fairy garden, which was the brainchild of mum Lisa Cochrane, was brought to life in the woodlands behind Aldee Bank and Hazel Road, after she decided to spread some magic in her local area.

What started off as a simple stone trail - where locals were asked to leave painted stones around the village for others to find - has blossomed into a creative outlet for the whole community.

Lisa told Glasgow Live : "This project has really come into its own during the Covid-19, you will find painted rocks all over the village.

"It was requested that I start a Covid-19 rock snake, where you add your painted stone or rock but this time it isn't moved.  In only a couple of weeks we are approaching the 250th stone mark!  The snake is up at the old railway station in the village."

From there Lisa encouraged people to get even more creative design tiny doors and homes to leave for the fairies.

And after Lisa posted pictures of the trail on social media, the popular attraction has grown increasingly popular, with young families and visitors of all ages adding their own touches of magic, with twiglet homes and colourful characters appearing all over the trail.

Lisa says she hopes even more families can get creative and add to the trail during lockdown.

She said: "Build your own fairy house with sticks, moss and bark, gather a few things to make one at home and bring it back, or paint a fairy door and add them to our woodlands.

"Please be mindful of the local wildlife, the flora and fauna. No damage should be caused to any plants, trees or natural habitats we are here to enhance the environment around us not hinder it."
