'There's plenty of dragon riding across the series': House of the Dragon season 3 star teases what's to come in HBO Max hit as June release date draws closer — including 'recent reshoots'

Rhaenyra stands on a cliff in front of two dragons.

House of the Dragon season 3 arrives on HBO Max in June 2026, which is set to focus on the immediate fallout of the Season 2 finale.

This will center on the Battle of the Gullet, and if you've read the original book series, we've already got a rough idea of what to expect.

Already, the teaser trailer (which you can catch up with below), suggests. Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) will consolidate her power in King's Landing, while a defeated Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) hide, plotting their next moves.

The war will likely escalate with major battles like Tumbleton and the Butcher's Ball... or at least, here's hoping.

Much remains to be seen for season 3, but thanks to newcomer Barry Sloane, who will play Ser Adrian Redfort, we've got a tiny behind-the-scenes glimpse of what to expect.

'I've always been a huge Game of Thrones fan'

"I've always been a huge fan of Game of Thrones" Sloane tells me. "It's just been a great pleasure. We actually did some reshoots for it in mid-March. So I went back and put all the garb on again.

"It was incredible. Lovely cast, lovely set, lovely bunch of producers, and it looks amazing. I'm very excited, very excited. Not enough dragon riding for me personally, but plenty of dragon riding across the series, if that's your thing."

According to Game of Thrones lore, Ser Adrian is a knight who supports Rhaenyra during the Dance of the Dragons, the moment that escalates civil war into full-scale warfare.

Online fan rumors are hoping this means that the Battle of the Gullet appears sooner in season 3 rather than later, but we won't know for sure for a few months yet.
