There’s One Thing in ‘Destiny 2’ You Should Definitely Dismantle Before Shadowkeep

With all the new gear coming to Destiny 2 in Shadowkeep, it’s definitely time for a bit of spring cleaning for your vault and inventory. I have previously said that it’s “safe” to delete pretty much all the armor you current own, though obviously keep your favorite, top-tier activity sets you like. It’s just that nearly everything else is going to be rendered irrelevant by armor 2.0 in the coming weeks and months, and you’ll be re-earning 2.0 versions of pretty much everything you already own.

But there is one type of item that you definitely, absolutely should delete before Shadowkeep, if you place any value on cosmetics in this game.

That would be pretty much everything you’ve ever gotten from Eververse.

The reason being is that while dismantling guns and armor now will still give you the same currencies as when you do it in Shadowkeep, that isn’t happening with Eververse stuff. Bungie is making a major change to Eververse items where all of them, including the ones you have now, will no longer dismantle into large piles of bright dust like they do at the moment. Rather, you’ll get glimmer and shards for them like anything else.

If you’re like me, you have probably saved a lot of sets of Eververse armor “just in case.” That especially is now pointless because you can dismantle them for free dust, and then unlock any Eververse gear you have as universal ornaments that can be applied to any pieces of legendary armor come Shadowkeep. If you somehow have the most perfect roll on a piece of Eververse gear and you currently wear and love it, I guess keep that. But everything else? It’s gotta go.

Past that, another thing I do, and I suspect I’m not alone, is stash away pretty much every exotic sparrow and ghost I get. Again, you can probably delete 95% of these safely, because you’re never going to be able to dismantle an exotic for a huge pile of 500 bright dust again starting this fall. And you’re not losing these items either, as you can pull them out of collections with shards and glimmer going forward, and do so until you get the roll you want, ie. the right finders on the ghost, or instant summon on the sparrow. Unless there are ones that you absolutely adore and use right this minute, you do not need to be saving your other exotic sparrows and ghosts as that’s just a mountain of dust that’s going to evaporate if you don’t get it now.

I suppose there are some people who might put more weight on 3-5 legendary shards than 500 bright dust if you really don’t care about buying any cosmetics, but that seems like a pretty raw deal for me, so I’m definitely just going to be dismantling almost all my Eververse stuff. I’ve already done it with my armor, I just have to get through my ghosts and sparrows and I should probably do stuff like transmat effects and Eververse shaders as well. Those are minor dust sources, but sources all the same, and it’s free dust you won’t be able to get starting in October.

Dismantling most Eververse stuff the past two years is how I’m sitting on 50,000 bright dust right now, but it seems that Bungie is looking to avoid us building up giant stashes like that in the future. But this, this is your last chance, so be sure to take advantage.
