‘There’s one man who can save us now’ – Nottingham Forest fans react to dramatic Derby County play-off win over Leeds

At one point, Nottingham Forest fans were quite enjoying their Wednesday evening watching their bitter rivals Derby County in action at Leeds United in the play-off semi-final second leg, though that didn't last as turned into a nightmare.

Early in the evening, the Rams were losing 1-0 on the night at Elland Road courtesy of Stuart Dallas’ strike meaning they were 2-0 down on aggregate and looking like breezing through.

Reds supporters were jubilant and revelling in what looked to be play-off failure for the Rams, that was until substitute Jack Marriott latched onto a Liam Cooper and Kiko Casilla error to level it up on the night just before the break.

Mason Mount made it 2-1 moments into the second half before Harry Wilson’s penalty added a third and give Frank Lampard’s side a 4-2 lead on aggregate which proved to be enough for a dramatic win in west Yorkshire.

Stuart Dallas reduced the arrears but Lampard the apprentice, eventually got the better of the master, Marcelo Bielsa, to set up a final with Aston Villa under the Wembley arch at the end of the month.

The Rams in the process, 16 years to the night that Forest lost at Sheffield United, became the first Championship team to lose a first leg and come back to win in the second.

On the Rams' last visit to the home of English football, Bobby Zamora scored the injury-time winner for QPR, and Reds fans are hoping for similar once again to ensure their great rivals don't win promotion to the Premier League this time around.
