There’s no bad blood between James Connor and Le’Veon Bell

The Pittsburgh Steelers locker room was a mess last season, but Le’Veon Bell wasn’t around for the drama.

That’s not to say the running back didn’t cause any by sitting out the season, but he was far from Pittsburgh’s biggest concern. Current Steelers running back James Connor even went out of his way to text Bell, praising him for the way he has handled himself as a teammate despite all the tension that has been flying around the Steelers.

Bell shared the heartfelt message on Twitter.

Connor told Bell that he never talked bad about anybody and he appreciates that. In addition, he congratulated him on the new deal he signed with the Jets and how he weathered the storm and came out stronger by sitting out last season.

This, of course, is in stark contrast to Antonio Brown, another former Steeler who has been bashing current Steeler JuJu Smith-Schuster on Twitter. Smith-Schuster was named the Steelers’ MVP in 2018, much to the dismay of Brown. He called out Smith-Schuster for fumbling late in a Week 16 game that ultimately cost the Steelers a playoff spot. Smith-Schuster responded by saying how he showed nothing but love for Brown and how his ego has completely changed him.

The fact that Connor is praising Bell as a teammate should please the Jets. They need players in their locker room that won’t throw anybody under the bus. In recent years, the Jets have had issues in their locker with some of their veterans. Most notably, there was an altercation between former Jets Sheldon Richardson and Brandon Marshall a few years back.

With the Jets being a young team, they’ll need that veteran leadership from Bell. He knows what it takes to win and getting along with the other players in the locker room is the first step.
