'There’s big history behind the club' - Wigan defender keen to impress at Notts County

Adam Long feels "he has a point to prove" at Notts County after he wrapped up a move to Meadow Lane.

The Wigan centre-back signed on a month’s loan on Thursday and is set to go straight into the squad to face Hartlepool this weekend.

Long is highly-rated by the Latics and has made two first-team appearances for the Championship side in the EFL Trophy.

And with Notts fighting to secure two trips to Wembley in the playoffs and the FA Trophy, the 19-year-old cannot wait to play his part.

“The manager wanted me to come here and it’s a big achievement in myself to feel wanted, so now I’ve got a point to prove,” he said.

“There’s big history behind the club and I’m looking forward to being here, fighting for my place and hopefully pushing on for promotion.

“I want to play as much football as possible, try and get clean sheets and three points in every game and finish in the play-off spots.

“I feel this is a good place for me to show I’m capable of making the step up to men’s football.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to make a name for myself.”
