There's been so much rain, it's shooting out of the ground

We can't take much more of this rain - and it appears neither can the ground.

Footage from Moss Lane East near Whitworth Park in south Manchester shows water shooting up out of the road, almost like an Icelandic geysir.

It's understood to have been caused due to a build up of pressure under the street.

Elsewhere in Altrincham , a storm drain has burst on Navigation Recreation Ground.

A video by Jon Dunford, shared by Altrincham Today shows the sodden playing field with several spouts of water bursting up into the air.

And our video above also shows water trying to force it's way through drain covers in Deansgate in Manchester city centre.

Flooding has swept through the region - particularly around the Stockport, Trafford and south Manchester areas.

Several streets in Hazel Grove are underwater, as well as Morrisons in Cheadle Heath.

According to the Met Office, the rain will continue into tomorrow - however Greater Manchester should be over the worst of it by midnight tonight.

Areas around Rostherne, near Altrincham, have had 21mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Rivington near Bolton has seen the most in the region with 55.2mm since 4.30pm yesterday.
