There's a Tesco delivery van on a cottage roof in Knutsford

Early morning walkers in Cheshire's Tatton Park stumbled across an unusual scene this week.

A Tesco delivery van draped with colourful Christmas lights has ended up on the roof of a thatched cottage inside the Knutsford park.

Word soon spread through the community and the scene gathered quite a crowd as people wondered why the van was parked on the roof - and how it got there.

Jewel, 29, from Knutsford, said: “It’s unbelievable! I’ve never seen anything quite like this, especially around here.

"It feels like something out of a Christmas movie.”

Tesco has hinted that the peculiar sight might have something to do with the supermarket's Christmas advert, which is expected to debut on ITV on Sunday night.

Alessandra Bellini, Tesco chief customer officer, said: “Seeing one of our Tesco delivery vans sat on the roof of a cottage caught everyone by surprise this morning.

"It is certainly not something you see every day, but I suspect that anyone watching ITV this Sunday night will have all their questions answered.”
