There's a suit shop in Keynsham with a hidden bar you access through a changing room

Whether it's the novelty of having to find a door in an obscure place or the exclusivity of it all, there's something very cool about secret bars.

Bristol is home to some fantastic hidden speakeasies including Milk Thistle, Hyde & Co, Red Light and Her Majesty's Secret Service, all of which are well worth the extra effort required to find them.

And as of recently there is also one in Keynsham - the first of its kind in the nearby town.

Inspired by hit TV series Peaky Blinders, The Drunk Owl is accessed through a changing room in The Suave Owl, an award-winning suit shop on Temple Street.

The quirky venue launched three months ago and is the brainchild of Tony Harvey and his wife Jessica.

"The Suave Owl opened in 2017 ago but earlier this year we decided that we wanted to add something to it," said Tony, 33, whose business was named Best Wedding Outfitter at the South West Wedding Awards last year.

"The space was initially a large changing room which groom parties could hire out for their suit fitting, but we thought it would work well as a bar and then came up with an idea of keeping it hidden out of sight, to give it that exclusive edge.

"We sell beers by the bottle and have every spirit under the sun on offer. We've also hosted a few gigs in there in collaboration with Longwell Records, who are just down the street, which have been great."

At the moment, The Drunk Owl is only open for events such as whisky, gin and rum nights, but Tony plans to turn it into a regular bar later this year.

Before launching The Suave Owl, Tony was in the Royal Marines and then worked in sales. He said setting it up was a 'massive stab in the dark,' but one which has paid off.

He is now hoping that the shop's sister bar will follow suit...
