'There's a new sheriff in town' – fans rave about Billy Gilmour masterclass against Liverpool

Chelsea fans have been raving about Billy Gilmour after the teenager's FA Cup masterclass against Liverpool.

One supporter even declared: "There's a new sheriff in town."

The 18-year-old, a product of the Rangers youth system, came up against Liverpool star, and European champion, Fabinho in the centre of midfield on Tuesday night, and fared pretty well.

He was named man of the match, and played an instrumental role in Chelsea's 2-0 victory on the night, with his composure on the ball, passing range and quick feet particularly impressing.

And fans were left in awe.

@nicolas0148 reckons the Scot is going to go on to great things.

@Iam_MrClaver reckons "there is a new sheriff in town".

@OmoAlhajii1 was reminded of one of the all time greats when watching the teenager perform.

@skaddaddle felt that the Rangers academy product is already outshining most of his peers south of the border.

And @SuperKova17 insists the "kid is a superstar".

Such was the impression Gilmour left last night, there are now even calls for Steve Clarke to include him in the Scotland squad for the upcoming fixture, or fixtures, depending on how optimistic you are about the national team's chances.

Whether he makes it this time or not is still uncertain, however it seems likely he'll make that Scotland midfield his own at some point in the future.
