There's a new night market happening in Glasgow with street food and live music

A local night market is coming to the banks of the Glasgow canals next weekend.

Hosted by Carnival Arts Yard, the unique after-dark event on Friday, January 31 gives people the chance to explore a local flea market and enjoy street food, drinks and live music.

Showcasing "the talent found within the Glasgow canal community", local businesses, artists and makers will be selling artisan goods including arts, crafts, clothing and soaps.

People looking to sell some second-hand gems will also be part of the market and bartering and swapping will be encouraged – so don't be afraid to bargain.

Chef Derek Park's street food collective MASA will be serving up some tasty Mexican-inspired scran at the event, having hosted a taco takeover at east end bar The Gate last November.

Julie Murray, Glasgow Canal Co-op co-director and Carnival Arts Yard director, said: “We’re excited to bring this lively flea-market atmosphere to north Glasgow for the North City Night Market. It’s going to be a relaxed and fun evening and is open to all – we can’t wait to welcome people along and brighten up their January.

“Glasgow’s canal and its surrounding neighbourhood is a creative hub tucked away in the north of the city and this event will showcase the close-knit community atmosphere and wealth of talent based in the area.”

The market is located in a warehouse at 1 Borron Street, close to the Glasgow canal, just 15 minutes from Cowcaddens Subway Station.

The event will be held from 6-10pm. For more information visit the event page on Facebook.
