There's a hedgehog nocturnal safari happening in Glasgow

Here's something you might never thought you'd here happening in Glasgow - a hedgehog nocturnal safari.

And the charity are on the lookout for volunteers to participate in the torchlight survey into the small hours, to help them monitor the hedgehogs in the Gardens and discover local wildlife after dark.

Billed as a special evening of surveying our little prickly friends, the event will see community volunteering charity TCV join forces with Glasgow's Botanic Gardens in the west end of the city.

It's all part of their latest Citizen Science project ‘Glasgow HogWatch’, a scheme funded by The British Hedgehog Preservation Society which aims to monitor and map hedgehog populations in Glasgow and the West of Scotland until June 2020.

The safari takes place on Friday, September 6 from 8.30pm to late, and volunteers must be able to attend a training evening on Tuesday, September 3.

A keen interest is vital and a reasonable level of fitness is requited to walk long distances.

For more info on the event, head to the charity's Facebook page here.
