There's a ceilidh happening in Glasgow to raise funds for Scotland's HIV and Hepatitis C charity

There's a ceilidh event coming to Glasgow next month which will raise valuable funds to help tackle the ongoing HIV outbreak in the city.

The Tartan Rainbow Ceilidh takes place on Saturday, February 15 at the Cottiers Theatre in the west end, with ceilidh outfit The Veritable Ceilidh Club providing the music.

The night is in aid of Waverley Care, Scotland’s HIV, Hepatitis C and sexual health charity, and is a LGBT+ friendly event.

Waverley Care Communications and Engagement Officer, Jennifer Goff, told Glasgow Live: "The general public in Glasgow has little awareness of who we are or what we do.

"This is our first event in the city, and it’s specifically come from our services having more demand but less funding for our basic running costs such as office space and equipment to do our jobs".

Part of Waverley Care's work in Glasgow involves their HIV Street Support Project - which works directly in the city centre to make sure people who are homeless or in temporary accommodation centre can get HIV testing, treatment and support.

And since the start of the project, they have carried out over 130 HIV tests.
