There's a castle up for sale in Springburn and it's going cheap

You read that right, folks; there’s a castle up for grabs in Springburn of all places - and you won’t believe how little it costs.

Granted, Rightmove lists it as a villa with ‘castellated tower’ - but we’re talking turrets, the lot, so the word castle seems entirely appropriate.

Built in the 19th century, the Gothic B-listed building has a lounge and a sitting room, three bedrooms a pretty indoor garden … oh, and a spiral staircase leading to the top of the tower, offering panoramic views of Glasgow below. No big deal.

The Broomfield Road property is near Springburn Park - but it has its own, well-maintained gardens and driveways on either side if you feel like upping the proverbial drawbridge and hiding away (this place seems to stop short at a literal drawbridge and moat - although for this steal of a building, we’d consider building one ourselves).

So how much will this historic - and fairly fairytale-worthy - pile of bricks set you back? Well, the seller is accepting offers in excess of £210,000 … which we think is a bit of a bargain.

Granted, it’s not exactly spare change - but when you consider that one bedroom flats in the west end go for more, we’ll give Springburn (and our bank balances) a try.

We’ll race you there, best man/woman wins and earns the title ‘king of the castle’ - not to mention this view from his or her turret.

Again, no big deal.
